Chaired an Online Technical Session at an International Conference on Building the Digital Divide for Sustainable Development

I was pleased to serve as the Chair of an Online Technical Session at the International Conference on “Building the Digital Divide for Sustainable Development: A Multidisciplinary Approach,” organised by the School of Mathematical, Computational and Information Sciences, PG Department of Library and Information Science & Library, Holy Cross College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli, in collaboration with the Academic Library Association Tamil Nadu (ALAT).

Held on 26–27 June 2026, the conference brought together academicians, researchers, library and information science professionals, scholars and students to discuss the challenges and opportunities associated with the digital divide and its implications for sustainable development.

As the Chair of an online technical session, I had the opportunity to moderate research presentations, facilitate discussions and engage with researchers from different academic backgrounds. The session provided a valuable platform for participants to present their research findings, exchange ideas and discuss emerging issues related to digital access, information, technology and sustainable development.

The multidisciplinary focus of the conference was particularly significant, as bridging the digital divide requires perspectives from multiple domains. The discussions highlighted the importance of digital inclusion, equitable access to information and technology, digital literacy, and knowledge sharing in creating more inclusive and sustainable societies.

I was also pleased to be part of the felicitation function honouring Prof. S. Srinivasaragavan, former Professor and Founder Head of the Department of Library and Information Science, Bharathidasan University. It was a privilege to be part of this memorable occasion celebrating his valuable contributions to the field of Library and Information Science.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to Dr. A. Senthamilselvi for the invitation, coordination and support extended to me in facilitating the technical session. I greatly appreciate her efforts in bringing together researchers and professionals for meaningful academic interaction.

I also extend my sincere appreciation to the Principal, organisers, faculty members and the PG Department of Library and Information Science, Holy Cross College, and the Academic Library Association Tamil Nadu, for organising this valuable academic forum.

It was a rewarding experience to contribute to the conference as an Online Technical Session Chair and to be part of an academic gathering that encouraged meaningful dialogue and collaboration. I congratulate the organisers, presenters and participants for their efforts towards bridging the digital divide and advancing sustainable development.
