“Building a Framework for Online Archives Exhibitions”
I am pleased to share our recent research publication titled “Development of Customized Project Management Methodology for the Implementation of Online Archives Exhibitions: Insights and Evaluation from a Research and Development Organization,” published in the Scopus-indexed journal Preservation, Digital Technology & Culture (PDT&C) by De Gruyter.

This study focuses on developing a customized project management methodology for creating and managing online archival exhibitions. In today’s digital era, archives are no longer confined to physical spaces-they have evolved into accessible digital environments that connect people to history, knowledge, and culture. Recognizing this shift, our research aimed to design a structured yet flexible approach that can guide professionals in implementing online exhibitions effectively and efficiently.
The research was carried out at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), Bengaluru, as part of its golden jubilee celebrations. The project involved creating an online archival exhibition that presents the Institute’s rich scientific and historical legacy through curated archival materials. The experience gained from this initiative helped shape a project management model that emphasizes collaboration, clarity, and sustainability.
The proposed methodology provides a practical framework for institutions, libraries, and archives to manage digital heritage projects with confidence and consistency. It bridges traditional archival practices with modern management principles, enabling organizations to preserve their collections while engaging a global audience.
This collaborative work by Arumugam P., Temin Thomas, and Rega R., representing the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bengaluru, and the Kalaignar Centenary Library, Madurai, highlights how structured planning and teamwork can make a lasting impact on the way archives are presented in the digital age.
